Clearly identify the type of food and the brand.
Provide net weight / volume.
Tip: use both metric and imperial values.
List each ingredient in decreasing order of weight.
Also, preservative, flavourant and colourant ingredient names should be coupled with "preservative", "flavourant" and "colourant", respectively.
In addition to listing each allergen in the list of ingredients, the side panel should also include the statement: "Contains … (milk, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, soybeans)".
Also express these as a percentage of Reference Daily Intake (RDI) / Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA).
Do not make health claims that are not proven (and approved). Also beware of using defined terms, such as:
Add patent, trademark and design pending numbers at the bottom of your label, e.g.:
Patent Pending / Pat. Pend.
Trademark Pending / TM Pend.
Design Pending / Des. Pend.
